Pattern Remix - Elegance & Elephants ruffle top

A while ago I was given a copy of Heidi`s debut pattern from Elegance&Elephants. The ruffle top is a super cute, vintage style blouse, that can be made into a shirt, tunic or dress! (super versatile)

So, it has taken me months to finally some time to make it! And I am so glad I did....cause it is REALLY good :)

I made some some changes ,because I can never follow directions  and I had this idea in my head and this was the perfect pattern to use.

With a very small modification I came up with something a little different. I love the way it turned out, like she is wearing a little ruffly bolero on top!
 Here is what I did:
The only pattern piece that I modified was the ruffle. I added 3'' to the height and 1'' to the width (this was for the size 6, so you may need to change the proportions slightly for a different size)
I cut 4 of them, sewed 2 together and turned and ironed (so they looked the same on both sides and there is no visible hem on the edge)

Then I sewed up the pattern as directed (....Excellent directions too), so it looks pretty much the same, just much larger ruffles

Then...it's all in how you fold it.  This part is best done on a model or the person getting the blouse, Fold over the ruffle, all the way. The fold it back down again about half way, adjusting as needed, creating a little collar.

Do this for the other side, and make sure it folds in the back too

Next (Again, this part is best done on person), match up the front ruffles somewhere in the middle so they look symmetrical and pin them together. Whipstitch together with matching thread where the pin is to hold them together. do the same on the back
And your done! yay
I used a very lightweight stretch poplin, and I would suggest sticking with a fairly light material since you are doubling up the ruffle fabric and don't want it to get too heavy.

My daughter thought she looked like a robot, so here is her 'robot dancing' collage :)

Now go get your own copy and make something cool!

*Thanks to Elegance and Elephants for giving me the opportunity to try your pattern out :)
