Reading Advent Calendar

I know this is cutting it close, but Advent starts in a few days, and I really wanted to do something that did not involve so.much.chocolate! Last year having a chocolate EVERY night before bed = not very good sleep in December.
So while searching ideas on Pinterest, my favourite that kept popping up was the Christmas Book Advent Calendar.

Here is my take on it

the idea is simple, Instead of a candy/chocolate every night, Your child gets to open a different book, which you then get to read together before bed. Beautiful!....and relaxing (unlike chocolate)

I went and got a bunch of Christmas books from the dollar store (they have got an amazing selection of books there...who knew?)

I threw in a couple of Christmas movies to mix it up

Wrap them all up

While getting the books, I also found these great jeweled number stickers in the scrap-booking section (gotta love the dollar store...)

Just stick them on each book...1 to 24. If you are planning to display them on a shelf or mantle, you will probably want to put the books up first and then put the stickers on....makes it way easier to make sure all the numbers are showing. But if they are going in a basket it does not matter.

I love the way it turned out. I stuck with a monochrome theme to match the rest of my Holiday decor....but there are a ton of versions on pinterest you can check out

The best thing is that you can save the books and re-use them every year...with a few new ones thrown in to keep it fresh

The total cost was about $30....more then the sugary version, but way more fun!

Go grab some books and make yourself an Advent Calender...only a few more days til December 1st!

Sneak Peek....Coco Jacket

We finally get to show you what we have been working on for most of Kids Clothes Week! Our newest pattern...The Coco Jacket. It will be available in sizes 12m thru to 12y.
This little overcoat is perfect for the little sophisticate in your life! Classic, but modern lines make this a really versatile piece.

Collarless and open-front, this coat can do just about anything. Looks great dressed up over a sparkly tutu or party dress. But works great dressed down over jeans and a tee.

Lots of lovely details like split 2 part sleeves, double top-stitching on all exterior seams and practical front pockets for interest.

Great for the little ones too!
Made with classic coating materials like wool, tweed and boucle, turns this into a really special piece.

Watch for the release early next week!
