I was thrilled when Heidi (the brain behind the fabulous Elegance & Elephants) asked me to try out her latest pattern, The Bohemian Babydoll dress and top. I adore her patterns, and am super pleased with each one I have made
I made a few minor changes, but pretty much kept it as is. I lengthened the top slightly to make a tunic version and added a button placket to the back. The pattern is originally designed to be made without any closures so it can easily slip on and off....GENIUS...and I will be making another version like that for my squirmy toddler!
I used a really soft and light cotton voile that I bough ages ago....just waiting for the perfect summer project.
I LOVE how light and airy this top is
What better to pair with a Bohemian top then a super light pair of wide leg pants! I used a self drafted pattern for the pants, made with a really light chambray grey cotton.
The pants were also perfect to play in, a nice change from all the 'skinny' / tight pants in her wardrobe. I added some back darts and front pleats to give a fitted look to the hips and made the waistband from stretchy knit....easy on and off. Perfect for a little yoga!
I made a matching sun hat....didn't really come out as what I had planned in my head...but it does the job
I really think this is the perfect 3 season pattern, and I see many more to come.....
Now , go get your copy and start sewing!

ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous!!!! I totally want this outfit for my DD. Any chance of getting ing one made? Or will you ever release the trouser pattern?
ReplyDeleteThx! I love seeing amazing Canadian seamstresses
Great job. Another thought, you could actually turn the top-bodice around and make the buttons in the front.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great outfit - the flowy top looks perfect paired with the wide legged pants. And how comfortable they must be! Wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating the persistence you put into your blog and the detailed information you provide. Keep up the good work.
